Did anyone else watch PBS’ Masterpiece Classic version of Great Expectations?
Ryan and I had never read the book nor seen any other movies/shows featuring Great Expectations, so we had no idea what to expect. I recently watched the Dicken’s Little Dorritt series online and loved it.
Not knowing anything about the story kept the mystery alive throughout both episodes. I loved following Pip’s story from his poor home at the forge to the streets of London and back home to his brother-in-law. We were intrigued as the intertwined stories of escaped convict Magwitch, the lovely Estella and her “mother” Miss Havisham began unfolding. And, of course, we found Miss Havisham incredibly creepy… (And shocked to find that she played the wife of King George VI in The King’s Speech)
Here’s a quick preview and you can watch the full version online too. http://video.pbs.org/program/masterpiece/
